MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING (SHRI G.K. VASAN)
(a) to (c): The Government has constituted a âNational Committee on Strengthening
Maritime and Coastal Security against threats from the Seaâ in August, 2009 with
the Cabinet Secretary as the Chairman. The Committee includes Chief Secretaries/
Administrators of all the coastal States/UTs as well as following representatives
from all the concerned Ministries/Departments/Organisations in Government of India:
1. Chief of Naval Staff
2. Foreign Secretary
3. Defence Secretary
4. Home Secretary
5. Secretary (Boarder Management), Ministry of Home Affairs
6. Secretary, Department of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways
7. Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture
8. Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
9. Deputy NSA cum Secretary, NSCS
10. Secretary(R), Cabinet Secretariat
11. Director, Intelligence Bureau
12. Director General, Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence
13. Chief Secretaries/Administrators of coastal States and Union Territories.
The Committee will help in monitoring timely implementation of proposals relating to Maritime
and Coastal Security. It will also help in ensuring effective coordination among various
Central Ministries and Agencies and the Coastal State Governments/Union Territories.
