Question : HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT OF UNDP



(a) whether the Government have studied the facts etc. given in the Human Development Report released by the United Nations Development Programme; and

(b) if so, the details of the steps taken by the Government for removing the said lacunas and shortcomings of India as pointed out in the report and to assess the basic problems linked with human development and also towards achieving the fixed targets?

(a) & (b): The contents of the global Human Development Report (HDR), 2002 prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have been noted by the Government. The Human Development Sectors, especially Primary Health Care and Elementary Education have received a substantial step up in allocations in the Tenth Five Year Plan.
