(a) whether the Railways have received any proposal from the Government of Rajasthan regarding opening of new Railway lines in the State;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1653 BY SHRIMATI CHANDRESH KUMARI TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 16-07-2009 REGARDING NEW RAILWAY LINES IN RAJASTHAN:

(a) to (c): The details of the new line proposals received from the State Govt. of Rajasthan and action taken so far thereon are given as under;

1 To link Phalaudi to Nagaur There already exists a BG line between and Kolayat for connecting Phalodi-Kolayat providing shorter Jaisalmer to Nagaur and routes between Jaisalmer to Bikaner. Bikaner via shortest route. An updating survey for Phalodi-Nagaur new BG line (147 kms) has been completed.

2 To link Bhiwadi to Delhi-line, An updating survey has been completed. Ahmedabad broad gauge railway which will connect industrial area Bhiwadi.

3 To link Gangapur City to An updating survey for gauge conversion Dholpur and gauge conversion of Dholpur-Sirmutra with extension from Dholpur to Sirmutra. to Gangapur City has been completed.

4 Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam A survey for Ratlam-Banswara- Dungarpur and extension upto Nimbahera. new line has been proposed in Railway Budget 2009-10.

5 Jaisalmer to Sanu Via Hamira A separate survey for Jaisalmer-Sanu (25 kms) new BG line has not been taken up. However, a Reconnaissance Engineering-Cum-Traffic Survey for Anupgarh-Khajuwala-Jaisalmer-Ramgarh new BG line (431 kms) was completed and proposal could not be considered in view of unremunerative nature and constraint of resources.

6 Bhiwani to Churu Via Loharu- A survey for Loharu-Bhiwani new BG Pilani-Mandrela-Alsisar- line (64 kms) has been completed. Malsisar and Bisau. The work has not been taken up because of constraint of resources and its unremunerative nature. A new BG line from Loharu to Churu via Pilani-Mandrela-Alsisar-Malsisar (100 kms) has not been considered feasible in view of constraint of resources.

7 Rail line from Jaipur to A survey for a new BG line to Nathdwara Bhilwara- Nathdwara via Kasba via Diggi-Malpura-Kekri-Shahpura-Banera- Gangapur-Baneda- Shahpura- Bhilwara-Gangapur (350 kms) was conducted Kekri- Malpura- Diggi- in the past but the project could not Phagi-Sanganer and to connect be taken up. However, Jaipur and Tonk Distt. headquarter Nathdwara are already connected by with broad gauge rail line. Railway line via Ajmer-Marwar- and Bundi-Chhitorgarh. Broad gauge connectivity by gauntlet track between Mavli and Nathdwara has been sanctioned.

8 Rail line from Bilara to Bar An updating survey for Bilara-Bar new BG and gauge conversion from line has been included in Railway Budget Pipar Road to Bilara. 2009-10. Pipara Road-Bilara gauge conversion has been completed.

9 Jaisalmer to Barmer. This is a part of Jaisalmer-Kandla new broad gauge line for which survey has been completed. The proposal has not been considered for being taken up.

10 Ajmer to Merta Road. Ajmer-Pushkar (31 kms) new BG line is in progress. For Pushkar-Merta City (40 kms), an updating survey has been completed. Merta City to Merta Road (15 kms) is already an existing broad gauge section.

11 Anupgarh to Khajuwala A Reconnaissance Engineering-cum-Traffic via Ramgarh. Survey for Anupgarh-Khajuwala-Jaisalmer- Ramgarh new BG line project (431 kms) has been completed. The project could not be considered in view of unremunerative nature of the Railway line and constraint of resources.
