STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (A) TO (C) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 369 TO BE ANSWERED ON 22.03.2021 ASKED BY SHRIMATI VEENA DEVI, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT REGARDING DEGREE COLLEGE IN MUZAFFARPUR
(a) to (c): Education being in the Concurrent List, creation of new institutions and enhancing the quality of education are the responsibilities of both the Central and State Governments.
As informed by the State Government of Bihar, the current policy of the State Government is to establish a degree college in every subdivision not serviced by a constituent college. There are already 3 government degree colleges under the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, namely Jiwacch College, Motipur; CN College, Sahebganj; and SRPS College, Saraiya in Muzaffarpur West Sub-Division of Muzaffarpur district.
Proposals received from State Governments for setting up a degree college are considered keeping in view the fund availability and fulfillment of other norms.
