Question : SUPPLY OF FOODGRAINS



(a) whether the Government has failed to supply adequate quantity of foodgrains to various States including Gujarat within the stipulated time;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(c) the steps taken to ensure adequate supply of foodgrains to the States on time?

(a): No Sir. The Government of India has fixed a norm of two months` stocking of foodgrains for every State to meet the requirement of foodgrains of the States, including Gujarat.

(b) & (c): A movement plan based on the anticipated requirement of foodgrains of the States is prepared on a monthly basis. Coordination meetings are held frequently between the FCI, Railways and the State Governments to ensure adequate supply of foodgrains to the States, as per their requirement.
