(a) the number of raids and inquiries conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Central Vigilance Commission during the last six months, till date;

(b) the number of officers and staff caught during the above raids;

(d) the number of officials who have been punished and exonerated by the agencies in each case?

(a): CBI conducts searches and inquiries as part of its mandate to combat corruption in accordance with law, depending on the requirement of cases. The number of raids/searches conducted are part of individual case records. No data is maintained centrally in respect of searches carried out by CBI as part of investigation of cases.

During the last six months i.e. 01.01.2010 to 30.6.2010, CBI has registered 491 Regular Cases (RCs).

(b): 235 officials & other persons were arrested in 491 Regular Cases (RCs) during the last six months. (c) and (d): Out of the cases registered during last six months, CBI has recommended prosecution/Regular Departmental Action (RDA) against 53 persons in cases where investigations have been completed.

No accused has yet been convicted/acquitted by the court of law in these cases. The respective Ministry/Department and the organization maintain the record of the final outcome of the departmental proceedings, and data is not available centrally.
