Question : Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the activities under the Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh and the success achieved in attaining goals of National Population Policy, 2000;

(b) the details of the utilisation of the funds allocated in supporting projects, schemes, initiatives and innovative ideas relating to Family Planning;

(c) whether the United Nations Population Fund has spent several million dollars in India for the population control programmes and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the outcome of population control programmes has not been satisfactory despite spending of so much funds; and

(e) if so, the steps taken / proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The activities under the Jansankhya Sthirata Kosh and the success achieved in attaining goals of National Population Policy 2000 are given in Annexure I
(b): The details of the utilization of the funds allocated in supporting projects, Schemes, initiatives and innovative ideas relating to Family Planning are given in Annexure II
(c) : The information on funds spent by agencies like UNFPA is not maintained in the Ministry.
(d) : No. It has been satisfactory as the TFR of the country has declined from 2.7 in NFHS III to (2005-06) to 2.2 in NFHS IV (2015-16). As many as 24 states/UTs out of 36 states/UTs have already achieved the milestone of the replacement level fertility of 2.1 or less.
(e) : Does not arise
