Question : Promotion of Dairy and Animal Husbandry

(a) whether the Government has focused on increasing credit flow to promote dairying and animal husbandry among the farmers in view of the target of doubling the income of each farmer by the year 2022;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the estimated amount of credit flow in this regard along with the targets?

Statement Referred to in Reply to Parts (a) to (c) on the Lok Sabha Starred Question No.208 regarding “Promotion of Dairy and Animal Husbandry” to be answered on 9th March, 2021

(a) Yes, sir.

(b) So far, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India has provided credit flow worth Rs 17,792 Crore for animal husbandry and dairy activities since 2017-18. In addition to this during the year 2019, Reserve Bank of India has extended the facilities of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to Animal Husbandry farmers to help them meet their working capital requirements. So far, Credit limit of Rs 4943 Cr has been approved for Animal Husbandry and Dairy activities under Kisan Credit Card Scheme.

(c) In order to ensure increased credit flow to Animal Husbandry, Dairy & Fisheries as announced in Hon’ble Finance Minister budget speech 2021-22, a target of Rs 61,650 crore for Animal Husbandry, dairy and fisheries has been fixed within the overall term loan target of Rs 6,85,000 crore for agriculture. The proposed activity-wise target for Animal Husbandry, Dairy and fisheries for 2021-22 is as under;
