STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 93 BY SHRI PRATAP CHANDRA SARANGI, SHRI JAGDAMBIKA PAL, SHRI SANGAM LAL GUPTA, SHRI BRIJBHUSHAN SHARAN SINGH AND SHRI P. P. CHAUDHARY TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 02.02.2022 REGARDING RAIL KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJANA
(a) Indian Railways has launched “Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana” to empower candidates in the age group of 18-35 years by providing them Entry Level skill training in various industry relevant technical trades such as Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Fitter etc. at various training locations spread over Indian Railways. Railway targets to train 50,000 candidates by March 2023-24. Successful candidates are awarded certificate for undergoing skill development training in the allotted trade. The scheme will empower trained candidates to obtain wage or self-employment.
(b) The training under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana is provided at various training locations on Zonal Railways & Production Units, which are generally spread across more than one State/Union Territory including remote locations. The candidates from any part of the country can join this training. Moreover, Railways have developed a dedicated website https://railkvy.indianrailways.gov.in to give ease of access to the aspirants of all relevant information, registration, notification and applications. A successful trainee can also download his certificate at any point of time.
(c) The number of applications received and assessed as on 01.01.2022 is 10,791, out of which 5728 applications have been accepted.
(d) Each Zonal Railway/Production Unit has nominated one Senior Administrative Grade level officer to monitor the scheme. Trades, syllabus, broad items to be covered in each session, evaluation method of trainee, pass percentage, minimum attendance, approximate ratio of theory, practical, soft skills have been standardized. The duration of training for all trades is 100 hours and training is standardized across all training centres.
(e) As on 01.01.2022, 3942 number of candidates have been trained under this scheme. There is no provision of providing employment under this scheme. The target of this scheme is to train 50,000 candidates by 2023-2024.
