Question : INSPECTION OF COMPANIES ACCOUNTS



(a) whether the Government has ordered inspection of accounts of some companies after receiving complaints from certain quarters in the recent past;

(b) if so, the details of the companies inspected for the alleged irregularities; and

(c) the outcome thereof?

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS (SHRI SALMAN KHURSHID)

(a) Government orders inspection, under Sec. 209A of the Companies Act, 1956 of the books of accounts of companies selected on account of complaints or other information relating to non-compliance with or violation of the provisions of the Companies Act, 1956 or other irregularities.

(b) 149 Companies were inspected on the basis of complaints received against them from 01.04.06 till 31.03.09. The list of companies is attached as Annex A.

(c) Suitable action under the law is taken in case any non-compliance / violation of the Companies Act,1956 comes to notice with regard to any company on the basis of inspection reports.
