Question : SHORTAGE OF MANPOWER



(a) the total number of sanctioned and posted strength of gangman, gateman, trollyman and keyman in the Railways, zone-wise including Western and Central zones;

(b) the total number of personnel recruited for the said posts during the last three years and the current year, year and zone-wise;

(c) the number of rail accidents which were attributed to large number of vacancies in the said categories of posts during the said period, year and zone-wise, including Western and Central zones;

(d) the number of personnel in the said categories of posts died or injured in the rail accidents during said period, year and zone-wise including Western and Central zones; and

(e) the steps taken/being taken by the Railways in this regard?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF STARRED QUESTION NO.115 BY SHRI SAMEER BHUJBAL TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 12.12.2013 REGARDING SHORTAGE OF MANPOWER

(a) The total number of sanctioned and on-roll strength of Gangman, Gateman, Trollyman and Keyman in the Zonal Railways, is appended-I.

(b) The total number of personnel recruited for the said posts during the last three years and the current year, zone-wise is appended-II.

(c) Rail accidents are not attributed to vacancies as there is no direct correlation between accidents happening and occurrence of vacancies.

(d) The number of personnel in the said categories of posts died or injured in the rail accidents during the said period, year and zone-wise is appended-III.

(e) In order to fill up vacancies during the year 2013-14, including above referred categories, notification for filling up 49,000 posts in erstwhile Group ‘D’ Categories, 25,300 posts in Group ‘C’ categories and 11779 posts earmarked for ex-serviceman quota, have been issued.
