Question : TRAINS FOR NORTH EAST



(a) whether the Railways are aware that people of North Eastern States including Assam who live in different metro cities of the country are facing difficulties due to lack of trains between their home cities and metro cities;

(b) if so, whether the Railways propose to introduce new trains between these cities;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): With a view to providing additional connectivity to the passengers of various stations located in the North Eastern part of the country, following train services have been provided in the recent past:

 1) 12527/12528 Kamakhya – Chennai AC Express (Weekly) w.e.f. 18-01-2015 2) 22503/22504 Kamakhya–Baiyyappanhalli Premium Express w.e.f.29-01-2015 3) 22411/22412 New Delhi – Naharlagun AC Express (Weekly) w.e.f. 20-02-2015 4)15617/15618 Guwahati–Naharlagun Intercity Express (Daily) w.e.f. 20-02-2015 5) 55819/55820 Guwahati – Mehdipathar Passenger (Daily) w.e.f. 29-11-2014 6) 55613/55614 Dekargaon – Naharlagun Passenger (Daily) w.e.f. 05-04-2014 
In addition to the above, the following services have also been announced in Railway Budget 2014-15:
