(a) Whether the Government have decided to re-train and to provide re-employment to the surplus labours;
(b) If so, the details thereof along with the criteria to be adopted in such cases;
(c) Whether the Government propose to provide funds from the National Renewal Fund for the purpose; and
(d) If so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. For Counselling, Retraining and Redeployment of the VRS optees from the Central Public Sector Enterprises, the Department of Public Enterprises have formulated a Scheme oriented towards self-employment. The VRS optees who desire to obtain the benefits out of this Scheme are to be imparted training by reputed nodal agencies for the purpose of self-employment.
The Government have assigned a sum of Rs. 8.00 crore for the purpose of such Counselling, Retraining and Redeployment activities for 2001-2002. The training programmes for the current year are about to commence.
(c) & (d) : No, Sir. National Renewal Fund has been abolished vide a Gazette Notification dt. 12th July, 2000.
