Question : WATER PROJECTS RECEIVING EXTERNAL AID



(a) the number of water projects receiving external aid from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation;

(b) the exact amount of financial or other kind of assistance being provided by these organisations, project-wise;

(c) the State-wise distribution of these projects;

(d) whether any such initiatives are in the pipeline for the North-Eastern States of the country; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a), (b) & (c) The total number of water projects receiving external aid is 31, out of which 11 are aided by the World Bank, 4 are by Asian Development Bank aided and 16 are by Japan Bank for International Cooperation assistance. The detail of financial assistance being provided by these organizations State-wise and project-wise are at Annexure.

(d) & (e) Two projects on Water for North-Eastern States are in the pipeline. North East Multi-States Water Resources Development and River Basin Institution Building Project was posed to World Bank on 9.12.2009 for financial assistance of Rs. 1740 crore. Augmentation of Water Supply for Imphal city by 45 mld. (10 MGD) with raw water from Thoubal Dam Project having project cost of Rs. 634.53 crore for Manipur State is in the rolling plan for JICA ODA loan.
