Question : Construction of New Airports

(a): whether the Government has any plans for the construction of new airports in Tamil Nadu particularly at Hosur and Rameshwaram;

(b): if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c): the total estimated cost of the said projects and the details of the funds to be generated for the same;

(d): whether the Government has fixed any time limit for the completion of the said projects; and

(e): if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): No Madam. At present, there is no proposal with Union Government for construction of new greenfield airports at Hosur and Rameshwaram, as per the Greenfield Airport Policy.

(c) to (e): Does not arise in view of above.
