Question : SUPPLY OF NATURAL GAS



(a) whether the Government has allocated the bulk of the additional natural gas from the Krishna-Godavari (K.G.) D-6 fields to the power sector;

(b) if so, the details of gas provided to the power sector on a firm basis and also on a temporary basis;

(c) whether any of the captive power plants in Andhra Pradesh has been provided gas under the said arrangement; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER (SHRI BHARATSINH SOLANKI)

(a) & (b): The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on commercial utilization of gas under New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) has decided to allocate 31.165 million metric standard cubic meter per day (mmscmd) on firm basis and 12 mmscmd on fallback basis from KG D-6 to power sector. Further, EGoM has also allocated 10 mmscmd on fallback basis to captive power plants.

(c) & (d): As regards allocation to captive power plants, the details of these plants and gas supply to these has to be decided. As of now, no allocation has been made from KG D-6 for captive power plants.
