Question : Conversion of Roads into NHs

(a) the details of roads which were converted into National Highways (NHs) in the country, State-wise during the last three years;
(b) whether the proposals of declaration of road/routes as new NHs in the States of Jharkhand and Tripura are pending with the Government and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) whether the Government has any plan to declare any road/routes as new NHs in the said States and if so, the details thereof?

(a) State / Union Territory (UT)-wise details of State Roads notified as National Highways (NHs) in the country, during the last three years is placed at Annexure.
(b) and (c) The Ministry keeps on receiving proposals from various State Governments/UTs, etc., including from the State Governments of Jharkhand and Tripura, for declaration of State roads as new NHs. The Ministry considers declaration of some State roads, as new NHs from time to time based on requirement of connectivity, inter-se priority and availability of funds.
