Question : SICKNESS IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY



(a) whether it is a fact that the chemical industry in the country is passing through a very critical phase;

(b) if so, whether the issues responsible for the sickness in the industry have been identified by the Union Government;

(c) whether the Union Government propose to extend basic facilities to the chemical industry to make it more viable;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The Chemical Industry in India has been growing and there are no signs of widespread industrial sickness. The Government has nevertheless engaged the industry in a continuing dialogue to ensure that impediments to growth are identified and problems addressed.
