Question : Transparency in Grant of Scholarships

(a) whether the Government is encouraging students from various sections of the society to continue education by providing scholarships and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the number and details of students in each class from 1st to 12th standards who have received scholarships from the Government during the last three years, year and State-wise;

(c) the details of annual income limit of parents required for the students to become eligible for scholarships, category-wise; and

(d) whether the Government has put any mechanism in place to ensure transparency in the selection of students for grant of scholarships and if so, the details thereof?

(a): The Ministry is implementing various Centrally Sponsored and Central Sector Schemes for educational upliftment of the Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Students with Disabilities (SwDs) by providing scholarships to them. The details are given in Annexure-I.

(b): The details of students, class-wise, who received scholarship from the Government are not centrally maintained. However, State-wise beneficiaries for the last three years are given in Annexure-II.

(c): The details of annual income limits of parents are enclosed at Annexure- III.

(d): System have been introduced for these Scholarship Schemes for online submission of applications, along with necessary documents and the processing thereof, including verification of eligibility credentials.
