(a) whether most of the hospitals recognized by the Government under the CGHS have refused to
provide treatment to the Central Government employees and the pensioners on the plea that the
rates of various pathological tests, surgery etc. are too low and even would not meet the cost;
and
(b) if so, the details of the comparative cost of pathological tests and surgery etc. of the
CGHS rates and the general rates?

(a) Rates for various tests and procedures in CGHS have been determined by floating tenders.
Only such hospitals are empanelled that sign an agreement accepting the rates etc. Stiff
penalties are prescribed for defaults in agreed terms of service delivery.
(b) Comparative costs of CGHS rates and general rates for pathological tests and surgeries
are not maintained.
