Question : ICP AT INDO NEPAL BORDER



(a) the number of Integrated Check Posts (ICP) proposed to be set up at Indo-Nepal Border in the State of Bihar;

(b) whether instances of smuggling have been reported as some of the sanctioned integrated check posts have not been set up in the said region including Raxaul;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the time by which the said check posts are likely to be set up?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU)

(a): Two integrated Check Posts (ICPs) namely ICP, Raxaul, District East Champaran and ICP, Joghbani, District Araria in the State of Bihar are being set up along Indo-Nepal Border.

(b) & (c): Establishment of ICP is for facilitation of trade and there is no direct correlation with smuggling in general with establishment of such ICP. However, details of cases of smuggling detected at Indo-Nepal Border in the State of Bihar (including Raxaul) for the last three years and the current year is as under:-
