Question : Changes in Technical Education

(a) whether the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has submitted its report to the Union Government on changes in technical education and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the recommendations of AICTE on problems galore with higher technical education and corruption rampant in it, have been accepted by the Government;
(c) if so, the details of recommendations of AICTE which have been accepted; and
(d) the follow-up action taken by the Government thereon?

(a): The Ministry had constituted All India Council for Technical Education Review Committee under the Chairmanship of Shri M.K. Kaw, Ex-Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to conduct a review of the present status of AICTE and suggest restructuring and re-strengthening of AICTE for attaining even better performance to meet the desired objectives for the purpose of strengthening of Technical Education sector. The Review Committee has submitted its report to MHRD.
(b) to (d): This Ministry has obtained the comments of experts on the report of Review Committee on 18.06.2015. The report of the Review Committee along with experts opinion / comments are placed on the website i.e. https://mygov.in/for the comments of general public.
