Question : AMENDMENT IN MINIMUM WAGES ACT

(a) whether the Government proposes to amend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 to improve the condition of workers/labourers engaged in different sectors including unorganised sector of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the time by which said Act is likely to be amended?

(a) to (c): The process of consultation with all Central Ministries/Departments and State Governments/Union Territory Administrations for finalizing the proposals to amend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, is in progress.
