Question : Civil Nuclear Agreements


(a)whether India has signed Civil Nuclear Agreements with foreign countries;

(b)if so, the details of such countries;

(c)whether we have started receiving uranium from these countries for our nuclear plants;

(d)if not, the breakup of how are we going to achieve the target of 63,000 MW of nuclear power by 2032-33; and

(e)whether there are any alternative plans and if so, the details thereof?

(a)Yes, Sir.

(b)India has signed agreements for cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy with Russia, United States of America, France, Australia, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Republic of Korea, Namibia, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Canada, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Japan.

(c)Yes, Sir. Among the countries from which India has been importing uranium are France, Russia, Kazakhstan and Canada.

(d)Does not arise.

(e)Also, India has plans to augment its domestic uranium production to meet future requirements of the country.
