Question : FOODGRAIN IN OPEN MARKET .



(a) the quantity of foodgrains sold in the open market by the Food Corporation of India in the month of March, 2000 and also a comparative statement of sales in the year 1999, month-wise;

(b) whether there is any abnormal increase in sale in the month of March, 2000; and

(c) if so, the extent of increase in sales in comparison to last three years?

(a) FCI has liquidated 955.63 thousand tones of wheat during March, 2000 under Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) of wheat. No rice has been sold under OMSS (D) during this period. The month-wise lifting position of Wheat during 1999 under this scheme is as follows:
