THE MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND CULTURE(SMT. AMBIKA SONI)
(a) : Ministry of Tourism is expecting a growth of 12-15% per annum till 2010.
(b) & (c): The Ministry of Tourism has assessed that a total of 30,000 hotel
rooms would be required in the NCR of Delhi to accommodate the tourists and
visitors to the Commonwealth Games 2010.
(d), (e) & (f): Ministry of Tourism has been in regular touch with the various land
owning agencies like DDA, L&DO, Govt. of Haryana, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, Indian
Railways, Airport Authority of India etc. for allocating more sites for hotels and also
for adopting annual rental payment in place of outright auction of plots to promote
budget hotels. Ministry of Tourism has also requested these agencies to consider
higher FAR for hotels, allowing land use change etc. so that private entrepreneurs
owning land are also allowed to build hotels. Ministry of Tourism has also introduced
a scheme of âIncredible India Bed & Breakfastâ under which residents, who have vacant
rooms can offer these for use of tourists.
