Question : LOW VALUE MONTHLY SEASON TICKETS



(a) whether the low value monthly season tickets are being issued to the poor people to travel in trains by the Railways;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith criteria adopted therefor; and

(c) the number of low value monthly season tickets issued by the Railways during the last one year, zone-wise?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) Low Value Monthly Season Tickets (MSTs) of Rs. 15 are issued to persons working in unorganised sectors like agricultural labourers, construction workers, vegetable vendors, etc., having monthly income of less than Rs. 400 for commuting by second class of Passenger trains between places of residence and work within 100 kilometers. These MSTs are issued at the stations on production of the requisite certificate signed by a Member of Parliament or Member of Legislative Assembly or District Magistrate or Sub Divisional Officer or Block Development Officer.

(c) The information is being collected and will be laid on the Table of the Sabha.
