Question : AMRIT Outlets

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the number of the AMRIT Centres functioning and the number of such centres proposed to be set up in the country, State/ UT-wise including Rajasthan;

(b) the concessional rates at which drugs are sold at AMRIT centres as compared to their prices in the retail market; and

(c) the details and progress of the scheme?

(a): HLL Lifecare Ltd, a Government of India CPSU is setting up AMRIT Pharmacies. At present, 84 AMRIT Pharmacies are fully functional across the country. The list of states/UTs in which these pharmacies are functional including Rajasthan is at Annexure.

M/s HLL Lifecare Ltd takes decision on opening of AMRIT Pharmacies on the basis of their proposals being accepted by States, viability inter alia. As informed by them, 66 new outlets are planned to be operationalized by HLL Lifecare Ltd by the end of 2017-18.

(b): The discounts on the drugs and implants being sold at AMRIT Pharmacies inter alia average upto 60%.


(c): AMRIT scheme is being implemented since November, 2015, which is now known as AMRIT Deendayal Pharmacy. Since opening of first AMRIT Pharmacy, 28.82 lakhs patients have been benefited under the scheme till 15.07.2017. At present 84 AMRIT Pharmacies are in operation wherein Rs. 260.47 crores worth of drugs sold at Rs. 111.57 crores, resulting in saving of Rs. 148.89 crores for patients till 15th July, 2017.
