(a) whether the World Famous seats of learning Vikramshila and Nalanda Universities belonging to the tenure of Pala dynasty, situated in Bhagalapur district are in dilapidated condition at present;
(b) if so, the steps being taken by the Government to reconstruct the Vikramshila University?

(a) & (b) The Central University functions as a pace setter institution in the region. Keeping in view the requirements of the state, the Government has established four Central universities in Bihar, including Nalanda University at Nalanda, established by Ministry of External Affairs. Besides, as announced in the Prime Minister package for Bihar the proposal includes establishment of a Central University near Bhagalpur at the historic site of Vikramshila University.
