(a) whether the University Grants Commission plans to encourage universities to set up campuses in foreign countries;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the said project is likely to help the universities to generate more finances; and

(d) if so, the number of campuses proposed to be set up location-wise and country-wise?

(a) to (d): UGC Guidelines, inter-alia, permit Deemed to be Universities to open Academic Centre(s) abroad. According to the information furnished by UGC, the details of Deemed to be Universities which have been permitted by UGC to set up multi-campuses abroad along with their names and locations are as under:

Setting up of Campuses in foreign countries is expected to provide affordable quality education abroad, particularly in developing countries.
