Question : District Primary Education Programme

(a) the number of employees working under the District Primary Education Programme (DPEP)
of Education Department in Chhattisgarh;
(b) the details of the pay-scales prescribed for the said contractual employees at the time of their
first appointment;
(c) whether the pay scale of the above employees was fixed less than that of their appointment at
later stage of appointment in the past;
(d) if so, whether there are such provisions in this regard;
(e) whether the EPF of said employees was being deducted by earlier Government of Madhya
Pradesh whereas it is not being deducted in Chhattisgarh; and
(f) if so, the reasons for such discrepancy?

(a) to (f) : As per information received from State Government, total number of employees
working under the District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) was 167 who were taken over
by SSA. Education is in the Concurrent List of the Constitution, therefore the recruitment, service
conditions and deployment of teachers is under the domain of the concerned State/Union Territory
(UT) Government.
