Question : SALE OF SUBSTANDARD MILK



(a) whether a racket has recently been unearthed in Delhi involved in the sale of substandard milk in the name of Mother Dairy Milk in neighbouring areas of Delhi;

(b) if so, the number of persons arrested so far and action taken against them;

(c) whether the Government have formulated any scheme to check the fraudulent sale of substandard milk in the country particularly in Delhi;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether NDDB has developed a kit for detection of synthetic milk and if so, how many of these have been sold so far;

(f) the sensitivity of this kit indicting how much adulteration it can detect;
(g) whether the Government propose to adopt new techniques of milk collection; and
(h) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): No Sir.

(c) & (d): The sampling of milk is being done regularly but at random by the Director, Prevention of Food Adulteration. The Government of NCT Delhi has not formulated any scheme in this regard.

(e): NDDB has developed a kit for detection of synthetic milk consisting of ready to use reagents for detecting presence of various adulterants. So far the kit has not been produced on commercial basis.

(f): The kit can detect traces of various adulterants.

(g): No proposal is under consideration of the Government.
