(a) the details of the present guidelines for community radio issued by the Government
and procedure for getting license;
(b) the steps the Ministry are taking in order to ensure that communities are permitted to
set up radio stations;
(c) whether Prasar Bharati has any plan to have community radio network by associating
with people representatives; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) The Government has issued guidelines for community radio licenses to well
established educational institutions recognized by the Central/State Government
including Universities and Institutes of Technology/Management. These guidelines are
available on the Ministry`s website: http//www.mib.nic.in.
(b) Licenses are being given to focus on issues relating to education, health, environment,
agriculture and developmental needs of local communities.
