(a) : Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana -Gramin (PMAY-G) has come with into from 1st April, 2016. Under PMAY-G, in initial phase, 1.00 crore houses are proposed to be constructed for the houseless households and households living in zero, one or two room houses with kutcha wall and kutcha roof in rural areas over the period of 3 years from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
As reported by State/UTs on Awaasoft on 26.12.2017, against the target of construction of 1 crore houses 95,41,825 houses has been allocated to the States /UTs and the State/UTs have registered 72,78,413 beneficiaries, sanctioned 59,27,516 houses, 54,67,878 beneficiaries have been given 1st installment, 36,47,046 beneficiaries have been given 2nd installment and 13,12,638 houses have been completed.
(b) : Under PMAY-G, financial assistance of Rs. 1.30 lakh is provided to the beneficiaries of North Eastern States, against 1.20 lakh in plain areas. Over and above the unit assistance, beneficiaries are provided 95 person days unskilled wages in North Eastern States, against 90 persondays in plain areas from MGNREGS. The cost of construction is shared between Centre and State Governments in the ratio of 90:10 for North Eastern States and hilly States while it is 60:40 for other States.
Ministry of Rural Development, in association with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), have developed house design typologies in identified housing zones of 13 States including Sikkim. The Construction of Demo houses with context specific house design typologies have been started in the State of Sikkim and Tripura.
