Question : Sub Post Offices

(a) the number of one man sub-post offices functioning at present in Rajasthan, district-wise;

(b) whether the Government propose to convert/ upgrade these one man sub-post offices functioning in Ajmer Lok Sabha constituency into two men sub-post offices;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the time by when it is likely to be done and if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) the number of sanctioned posts for MTS, Postman, Post Office Assistant, HSG and SHG etc. in the Post offices functioning in Ajmer at present and the number of such posts lying vacant along with the time since when these posts have been lying vacant; postwise and post office-wise;

(e) whether the Government proposes to fill up the aforesaid vacant posts for smooth functioning of Post Offices in Ajmer;

(f) if so, the time by when it is likely to be done and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Sir, there are 724 one man Sub-Post Offices functioning in Rajasthan. The district-wise details are at Annexure-I.

(b) & (c) The Department carries out periodic establishment review of the post offices as per the laid down instructions/ guidelines inter-alia taking into account the workload of the post offices concerned. The status of the post office is thereafter reviewed as per the result of the aforementioned review. At present, there is no proposal under consideration for upgradation of one man sub post offices functioning in Ajmer Lok Sabha constituency.

(d) At present, there are 609 sanctioned posts, comprising of 74 Multitasking Staff (MTS), 186 Postman, 217 Postal Assistant (PA), 90 Lower Selection Grade (LSG), 42 Higher Selection Grade (HSG) in Post Offices of Ajmer Parliamentary Constituency. Out of these, 215 posts are lying vacant from the date of retirement/ promotion/ transfer/ death/ resignation etc. of last incumbent. The details of post-wise and post office-wise vacant position are at Annexure-II. There is no such post as SHG in the Department of Posts.

(e) & (f) Department works out vacancies in various cadres such as. MTS, Postman, Postal Assistant etc on an annual basis and fills them through a laid down procedure inter-alia comprising of Direct Recruitment and Departmental promotion channels as prescribed. The filling of vacancies is a continuous and regular exercise in the department.
