(a): Yes, Sir.
(b)&(c): The Government of India accorded approval to the proposal for
development of fishing harbour at Thangassery in Kollam District in two stages. The
stage-I fishing harbour at an estimated cost of Rs.1411.00 lakhs was approvaed in
October 1988 and stage-II at a cost of Rs.569.50 lakhs was in March 1994 and
implementation of this project has been taken up as an Integrated Fishing Harbour project
with a total cost of Rs.1980.50 lakhs. The entire central share to the tune of 50% of the
approved cost amounting to Rs.990.25 lakhs has been released to the State by March
2002. After examination the revised cost estimate report with a cost escalation from
Rs.1980.50 lakhs to Rs.4385.50 lakhs, the Government of Kerala has been requested in
December 2002 to indicate item-wise quantum of cost escalation on account of severe sea
erosion occurred in 1994 and delay in disposal of court case.
