Question : Electric Vehicles under FAME India Scheme

(a) the details and the number of electric vehicles which have been supported by the Government and are plying on roads under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles Scheme till date since implementation of the scheme, e-vehicle category-wise along with funds allocation;

(b) the steps being taken by the Government to incentivize installation of more public charging infrastructure;

(c) whether the Government has any plan to promote installation of public charging infrastructure at or around existing petrol/diesel/CNG pumps and if so, the details thereof;

(d) the details of charging stations which are functional in the country, State-wise;

(e) whether the Government has any plan to incentivize usage and installation of solar power cells or other renewable sources of energy for charging vehicles at public and private spaces; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Under FAME India Scheme (Phase-I & Phase-II), since its implementation i.e. 1st April, 2015, total 3.61 Lakh Electric vehicles (e-2W-2.35 Lakh, e-3W-0.2 lakh and e-4W- 1.06 Lakh) amounting to demand incentive of about Rs 600 Cr have been incentivized as on 9th July, 2021. Further, 862 Electric buses amounting to demand incentive of about Rs 492 Cr have been deployed as on 30th June, 2021.

(b) & (c): Sir, Phase-II of FAME India Scheme is being implemented for a period of 5 years w.e.f. 01st April, 2019 with a total budgetary support of Rs. 10,000 crores. This phase focusses on supporting electrification of public & shared transportation and aims to support, through subsidies, approx. 7000 e-Buses, 5 lakh e-3 Wheelers, 55000 e-4 Wheeler Passenger Cars and 10 lakh e-2 Wheelers. In addition, creation of charging infrastructure is also supported to address range anxiety among users of electric vehicles.

The Department of Heavy Industry had also sanctioned about 520 Charging Stations/ Infrastructure for Rs. 43.4 Crore under Phase-I of FAME-India Scheme. Department of Heavy Industry has also sanctioned 2,877 Electric Vehicles (EVs) Charging Stations amounting to Rs 500 Crore (Approx.) in 68 cities across 25 States/UTs under FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India) scheme phase II.

(d): The details of charging stations functional in the country for electric vehicles under Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme is at ANNEXURE-I.

(e) & (f): No, Sir. No separate policy is being implemented to incentivize usage and installation of solar power cells or other renewable sources of energy for charging vehicles at public and private spaces.
