(a) whether hundreds of applications regarding issuing of LVP licences duly approved by the States Drugs Controller Authority are pending before the Drug Controller General of India;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons for their pendency; and
(c) the time by which these licences are likely to be issued?

(a): No.
(b) & (c): During January 2009 to October 2009, total number of 153 applications
related to licensing of L.V. Ps including approval of additional products have been
received by the office of Drugs Controller General (India). 148 applications have
already been processed and 143 approvals have been granted. For 5 applications,
deficiency letters have been issued and 5 applications are under process for grant
of approval. It may take one month’s time to grant approval in these 5 cases subject
to the condition that any deficiency is not detected.
