Will the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has started Indian BPO promotion Scheme under the Digital India Programme and if so, the salient features thereof;
(b) whether the Government proposes to launch specific BPO Schemes for rural areas and if so, the state-wise details thereof; and
(c) the details of BPO Schemes launched in the rural areas including Bundelkhand region?

(a) and (b): Under Digital India programme, the Government has launched the India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) for promotion of BPO/ITES operations across the country. The scheme has an outlay of ?493 crore and provides capital support and incentives upto ?1 lakh/seat. It seeks to promote employment generation and balanced regional growth of IT/ITES sector across the country. Around 48,300 seats have been planned across State(s)/UT(s) including rural areas, based on population of the state as per Census 2011. The scheme excludes metro cities alongwith their urban agglomeration viz. Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Pune. The state-wise allocation of BPO/ITES seats is at Annexure-I. The details of the scheme are available at www.meity.gov.in/ibps and https://ibps.stpi.in
(c): For selection of companies under IBPS, the first round of online bidding has been completed on 08.07.2016. After evaluation, 40 successful bidders for 9020 BPO/ITES seats in 36 locations across 14 States and 1 UT, including the Bundelkhand region have signed Master Service Agreement with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), the implementing agency.
