Question : NGOs-VOs IN HUPA

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION be pleased to state:

(a) the names of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Voluntary Organisations (VOs)/Research Organisations/Institutions under the Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation;

(b) the projects/programmes/schemes that are currently being implemented by the Central Government and State Governments directly through VOs/NGOs/Trustees separately, State-wise;

(c) the details of funds released to each organisation during the last three years and the current year, year-wise;

(d) whether there is any mechanism to monitor the utilization of funds; and

(e) the measures contemplated to check misuse and diversion of funds and ensure proper implementation of projects?

(a): There are no Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Voluntary Organisations (VOs)/Research Organisations/Institutions under Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation.

(b): Under the schemes of this Ministry, financial assistance is provided to States/Union Territories (UTs). This Ministry has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM)” which has now been extended to all statutory towns. The Mission aims at reducing poverty and vulnerability of urban poor so that they can find wage employment or set up self-employment ventures and secure credit at subsidized rate of interest for individual/group micro-enterprises. State Governments/Union Territories can involve NGOs, Semi-Government Organisations, private sector, industry associations, government departments/agencies, urban local bodies, national/State/city resource centres for implementing various components of DAY-NULM.
