Question : Constant Tracking of Aircraf

(a) whether in order to prevent disappearance like to MH370 case, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has mandated constant tracking of aircraft at 15 minute intervals particularly on routes over oceans;

(b) whether the operator shall establish an aircraft tracking capability to track aeroplanes throughout its area of operations, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether all the airlines will be complaint with whatever is required as the systems are already in place with them; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Yes, Madam. Under the provision of CAR Section 8, Series O, Part II, para 3.5.3, DGCA has mandated operator constant tracking of aircraft through automated reporting at least every 15 minutes interval for the portion of the in-flight operation that is planned in an oceanic area under the following conditions:;

(i) The aeroplanes has a maximum certificated take off mass of over 45,500 kg and a seating capacity greater than 19; and;

(ii) Where an ATS unit obtains aeroplanes position information at greater than 15 minute intervals.;

(b) Yes Madam, The operator is required to establish an aircraft tracking capability to track aeroplanes throughout its area of operations, under the provision of para 3.5.1 of CAR Section 8, Series O, Part II.;

(c) & (d) All scheduled passenger airlines are compliant with aircraft tracking capability.
