Question : Employment of Tribals

(a) the number of tribal people employed in the Government Sector (both in the States and Union) including tribal women during the last five years, State/ UT-wise; and
(b) the details of the funds spent and employment opportunities made available for tribals especially tribal youths, State-wise and year-wise during the said period?

(a): Based on the Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011, all India and State/ UT-wise figures available on number of ST households with salaried jobs in Government and Public Sector, in rural areas, are given in Annexure I.
(b): The National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, implements schemes for self-employment of Scheduled Tribes (STs) by providing concessional financial assistance to individuals or groups of STs for undertaking Income Generation Activities. Details of fund released by NSTFDC for this purpose, state-wise from financial year 2010-11 to 2014-15 are given at Annexure-II.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs under its programme of Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), provides funds to the State Governments as part of filling critical gaps in various fields/ activities relating to employment-cum-income generation programmes and creation of infrastructure incidental thereto. Statement showing amount of funds released to the State Governments under Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan (SCA to TSP) during the last five years is given at Annexure -III.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs also implements one centrally sponsored scheme i.e. scheme of Vocational Training in tribal areas across the country for skill development of ST youths. The main aim of this scheme is to upgrade the skills of the tribal youth in various traditional/ modern vocations depending upon their educational qualification, present economic trends and the market potential, which would enable them to gain suitable employment or enable them to become self-employed. State wise release during last five years under the said scheme is at Annexure - IV.
