Question : Covid -19 Vaccination to Prisoners

(a) the details of the progress of vaccination of prisoners in the jails across the country;
(b) the total number of prisoners who have contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic across the country, jail-wise
(c) the details about the highest, lowest and average figure of infection and death rates during the pandemic in the jails across the country; and
(d) the steps undertaken to control the spread of the disease by authorities concerned?

(a) to (d) As on 7th February 2022, a total of 6,41,252 vaccine doses have been administered to prisoners across the country, out of which 4,29,209 are 1st dose and 2,12,043 are 2nd doses as per data available on Co-WIN portal.
Union Ministry of Health & FW is keeping a close watch over evolving COVID-19 scenario in the country and has been in regular interaction with the States/UTs. Union Ministry of Health has coordinated and supported States to upgrade and strengthen the health infrastructure and requisite logistics to manage COVID-19 pandemic. Various initiatives have been initiated by the Government to provide technical guidance and further strengthen health infrastructure, clinical management of COVID-19, availability of essential logistics including drugs and medical oxygen supply to manage COVID-19.
