Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:


(a) whether the Government is planning to amend Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1971;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) whether a Comprehensive National Database for Antiques was functioning ;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government is planning to establish a National Archive for antiques; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(b) Yes, Madam. Government of India is planning to frame two Acts i.e. (i) Antiquities and Art Treasures Export and Import Control Act and (ii) Indian Antiquities and Art Treasure Act to regulate and promote domestic art market and to control illicit trafficking of art objects

No comprehensive National database for Antiquities was functioning.

(e)

(f) There is no proposal to establish National archives for antiquities. However, National Mission for Monuments & Antiquities has been assigned the work for preparation of database of antiquities.
