Question : Allocation of Funds for Drinking Water Works

(a) whether the Union Government has allocated/released/utilised any funds for providing drinking water in Rajasthan and Gujarat during the last three years;

(b) whether the State Governments of Rajasthan and Gujarat have not furnished information to the Union Government about the works undertaken by them to provide drinking water;

(c) if so, the reaction of the Union Government thereto;

(d) the rules laid down for submission of progress report regarding supply of drinking water by the States of Rajasthan and Gujarat to the Union Government; and

(e) whether Rajasthan and Gujarat are complying with the said rules?

(b) to (e) A mechanism for submission of progress report has been laid down in the Operational guidelines for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. As per these provisions, respective States/ UTs have to ensure regular updation of progress on JJM–Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) and accordingly, Rajasthan and Gujarat States are reporting the progress.
