Coal-to-Liquid Pilot Project

Will the MINISTER OF COAL be pleased to state :
(a) the present status of the Coal-to- Liquid Pilot Project (LPP);
(b) the quantum of oil targeted to be produced every year under the project and the quantum of coal required for the purpose; and
(c) the provision being made by the Government to ensure that there may not be any shortage of coal for the project?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF COAL, POWER AND NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY ( SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL )
(a): An Science & Technology project (Research project) for Coal-to Liquid Pilot Project on pilot scale funded by Ministry of Coal, Government of India is under implementation jointly by Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) and Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI). Erection of the Process Development Unit for Coal-to Liquid Pilot Project has been completed and commissioning of the plant is in progress.
(b): The quantum of oil generation and coal requirement for coal to liquid pilot plant depends on catalyst activity and gas input to the reactor. It would properly be quantified after completion of the experiments. Tentative coal requirement for this project has been assessed is 225 te initially.
(c): Coal for this project is being purchased from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) and as such there is no shortage of coal for this project.
