(a) to (c) The rating of bituminous pavement based on surface defects has been specified in Indian Road Congress code IRC:82-2015. The rating values correspond to poor, fair and good condition of the road. Nowadays pavement condition are also measured through technology based Network Survey Vehicle. Moreover, to minimize road accidents and save precious lives, this Ministry has issued instructions/ guidelines to take up various road safety measures such as identification and rectification of black spots, road safety audit, installation of crash barriers, traffic calming measures etc.
