Question : SANITATION FACILITIES

(a) whether the Government proposes to conduct survey and mapping of the habitations by Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems for paying attention towards sanitation;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the details of sewerage lines, sewage-water drainage system and its condition vis-a-vis community toilets/public toilets their numbers and condition would be surveyed and assessed in said maps;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps initiated/proposed to be initiated for construction of community toilets/ public toilets?

(e) Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), provision exists for the construction of Community Sanitary Complexes (CSC). The unit assistance available for construction of CSCs is Rs.2 lakh with a sharing ratio amongst Central Government, State Government and the Community of 60:30:10. Ordinarily such Complexes will be constructed only when there is lack of space in the village for construction of household toilets. The CSCs are to be constructed only on demand of the Gram Panchayats and after ensuring that adequate Operation and Maintenance arrangements are in place.
