Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SHRIMATI KANTI SINGH)

(a)&(b) State-wise number of ICDS projects sanctioned, targeted for operationalisation and made operational during the last three year is given in the statement annexed.

(c) ICDS is a Centrally sponsored Scheme implemented through State Governments. Main reasons for short fall in operationalisation of sanctioned Projects, as informed by the State Governments, relate to personnel management, inadequate infrastructure for training of functionaries and other administrative issues involved in the matter.

(d) The concerned State Governments have been requested, from time to time, to resolve these issues and operationalise all the sanctioned Projects and Anganwadi Centres at the earliest. As a result, there has been considerable progress in the last one year or so as is evident from the details given in the Statement referred to above.

Statement referred to in reply to part (a) of Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2926 for 13.12.2005 regarding implementation of ICDS by Shri Kamla Prasad Rawat
