STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO STARRED QUESTION NO. 160 FOR ANSWER IN THE LOK SABHA ON 2ND DECEMBER, 2005 REGARDING âINDUSTRIAL HOUSES IN MINING SECTORâ ASKED BY SHRI SURENDRA PRAKASH GOYAL.
(a)&(b) : A large number of companies have applied for mineral concessions. Mineral concessions are granted by State Governments. Prior approval of this Ministry is required in respect of atomic minerals and ten metallic and non-metallic major minerals. 323 prior approvals were given in the last three years by Ministry of Mines of which 244 were in favour of companies.
(c): The details of mining leases granted by the State Governments for all major minerals in public and private sector during the last three years are as under:-
